It's important that my students see how I work the problems too, just like they have to. And if they are having issues, it's important they see my process and steps. I love that in both Google Meet and Zoom we have easy access whiteboards!

I really, really love Newsela and have used it for years with both my GT students before retirement and currently with my tutoring students. But sometimes with the older kids, I get a big sigh when I tell them we're going to work on a particular article. Since choice is important in engaging kids, I type up a list of the topics of current news articles and let them choose...this way they have ownership and can't complain about one I chose! @newsela

Found these fun (and free) addition and subtraction word problems from Rosie's Superstars on Teachers Pay Teachers! After downloading, I took a screenshot of each problem, then uploaded into a Google Jamboard. This way, I can share the Jamboard with the student, and they can SHOW me their work right on the Jamboard! LINK TO THE RESOURCE IN BIO!

I loved when my middle school student had to read her @goraina book during tutoring; I quickly went and found the Kindle version on my Macbook app, then projected the screen. As she read aloud, I was able to follow along and we could discuss the book. Now I see why so many of my upper elementary/middle school tutoring students love these books!

My middle school student was showing me all the books she is currently reading, for both school and at home. She explained why she chose each book...the book on the left is so she can get better at swimming, which she does for her sport. We also had a great discussion about the benefits of graphic novels; she is definitely a reader who needs these in order to both enjoy and understand her reading! @goraina
